So Why did I choose the Ketogenic Diet to lose the weight? I have been on every diet out there. I have been a vegetarian, I tried the carnivore diet. I did every meal replacement shake diet there was. The most effective diets that worked for me low carb and simple.
When I followed the "Fit for Life" Diet I liked the simplicity of a salad and one other item for a meal, but the vegan element left me feeling weak and sickly.
When I was on the carnivore/ zero carb diet The lack of variety in the food didn't sit well with me. How I found the ketogenic diet was doing research on fat loss. The most efficient people to lose fat are bodybuilders. Studying what they did to lose fat and not muscle for contests led me to Keto/Low carb.
Bodybuilding trainers of the most famous bodybuilders in history (Arnold, Steve Reeves, Larry Scott, Franco Columbo, etc) were preaching low carb and high protein for fat loss. One of those trainers Vince Gironda was so lean in his bodybuilding career in the fifties that he was not considered attractive. By today's bodybuilding standards was lean, but not "cut." He invented the "Steak and Eggs diet." The steak and eggs diet was an extreme keto diet. After he followed if for a few months he added a salad a day for "regularity."
Much like I like coffee, I like meat. My body likes meat. I feel great when I eat meat. I am going to eat meat. So when I look at all the things I have done to lose weight, a combination of keto with salad and a little intermittent fasting added in will satiate my desire to eat and create the caloric deficit to make me lose the fat.
Now I am not a professional bodybuilder and don't plan on being as big as one. I so I am not eating the 5000+ calorie diet of a pro bodybuilder. I plan on keeping my diet sub 2000 calorie. I of course will be assessing and adapting the diet as I go. Anyone interested in learning more about the Ketogenic diet, here is a link to some simple information: CLICK HERE
February 28 2018 I was standing on stage in Florida when I, on a whim, committed to that audience that a year from that date I would be down 100lbs.
